Todd Bracher

American designer Todd Bracher was born in New York City in 1974. He studied industrial design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1996. Three years later, he moved to Copenhagen to study furniture design at Danmarks Designskole (also known as the Danish Design School) on a Fulbright fellowship, ultimately earning a Master’s in interior and furniture design in 2001. Bracher spent the next decade working in Europe (Copenhagen, Milan, London, and Paris). During that time, he served, among other roles, as a senior designer at Tom Dixon’s design studio in London from 2003 to 2005 and as a professor of design at L’ESAD in Reims, France (2005).

He returned to the U.S. in 2007, and established the Todd Bracher Studio in New York. Bracher was named Best New Designer at New York’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in 2008. In addition to his independent work, from 2009 to 2011, he was the creative director at Scandinavian luxury brand Georg Jensen. Beginning in 2011, he became a strategic advisor to 3M’s Architectural Markets division. Bracher has designed furniture, accessories, and products for clients such as Cappellini, Fritz Hansen, SodaStream, Herman Miller, and Jaguar, among others, and he is the first American to design a Zanotta product—his Freud sofa being the first, followed by more, including his successful Tod table.
