Luke Armitstead

Designer Luke Armitstead was born in Seattle in 1989. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Armitstead works primarily in ceramics, with a focus on design and sculptural projects. He is inspired by both nature and the built environment, and cites architects Antonio Gaudí, Roberto Burle Marx, and Friedensreich Hundertwasser as major influences.

Since 2011, he has participated in a handful of solo and group shows at a variety of galleries, including New York’s Johnson Trading Gallery, Courtney Blades in Chicago, and the Midwest Clay Project in Madison, among others.

Armitstead is currently undertaking a postbaccalaureate program in ceramics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
